The Road Transport and Highways Ministry will soon address issues that have led to en-masse resignations of 15 officials of joint secretary and chief engineer ranks over differences with Plan panel adviser Gajendra Haldea on new norms for NHAI contracts.
"We value the role of senior professionals and we are keen to ensure a working environment where they feel motivated. As Secretary of the Ministry I am very confident that we would be able to address their concerns and they would keep on contributing to highways development," said Secretary, Road Transport and Highways, A K Upadhyay.
As many as 15 senior officials, including two top NHAI officials, V L Patankar, Member (Technical) and B N Singh, Member (Projects) had tendered their resignations after differences with Haldea over the issue of new model of Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) for road contracts.
When contacted Haldea, Adviser to Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia on Infrastructure, said, "I am not aware of any resignations. It continues to be business as usual."
When contacted Patankar refused to comment on the issue. Director General, Roads, R P Indoria, who has also tendered his resignation had said yesterday, "I have no idea about the development."
