Sunil Mantri who headed the Maharashtra Chamber of Housing Industry (MCHI) as president has completed his one year tenure. The shift is effective from end of May 10, 2011. Mantri who is Chairman of Sunil Mantri Realty took over presidency from Pravin Doshi in May 2010.
During his year-long tenure, Sunil Mantri emphasised on substantial expansion of the Chamber's activities, programmes and initiatives through more realty exhibitions in Maharashtra.
Sunil Mantri, the former President of MCHI said, “It has been an honour to head a prestigious body that is so active in the reforming process of realty sector in Maharashtra. I have expanded my lessons of knowledge during this term. I wish the best for the upcoming president for this regime in this office.”
Among the major initiatives that Mantri took during his tenure was approaching the Maharashtra Chief Minister for speedy approvals and reforms for property development and redevelopment. In past it would take 2-3 years to get clearance for 40 NOCs which thereby affected the cost of land value and ultimately delayed leads to high cost of the projects. He had also suggested Government authorities to use single window clearance through usage of technology for granting approvals and sanctions.
Other proactive steps he suggested to government bodies included 15-25% EWS reservation to be deleted and coordination of Policy maker / all CM’s across India. He also took steps to help Maharashtra Government to execute conveyance of single buildings and completed layouts.
