Philips Electronics India Ltd has unveiled its second ‘Philips Light Lounge’ in Chennai recently. A Light Lounge is an experience zone which gives customers a ‘see, touch and feel’ experience of a diverse range of world-class home decorative lighting concepts from Philips like Ledino, Living Colors, Ecomoods, Kidsplace, Aquafit and Classic ranges. Philips is buoyant about its plans to consolidate its retail presence in Tamil Nadu and South India by opening more Light Lounges and Light Shoppes (Shop-in-shops) in the coming months.
“In line with the continued company-wide focus on consumer lighting, Philips has rapidly increased its retail presence across important cities in India in the last two years,” said R Nandakishore, Senior Director - Home Decorative Lighting & Modular Switches, Philips Lighting India. “We opened the first Philips Light Lounge in Chennai, in T Nagar, two years ago and have received an overwhelming response from customers here since then.
The market has matured rapidly, and people’s evolving tastes and desire for lifestyle solutions has meant that the region offers huge business potential to us. The Light Lounges offer consumers the complete range of Home Decorative Lighting solutions under one roof.”
With the launch of the newest Philips Light Lounge in Chennai, the company now has 44 Light Lounges in India, in addition to more than 400 Light Shoppes in the country. The company is aggressively looking to expand its retail presence throughout India and aims to double the number of its exclusive retail touch points by the end of 2011.
