Nippon Paint (India) Pvt Ltd has announced the launch of its marketing operations in Mumbai. Through this move, the long-standing Japan based paint major has highlighted the strategic importance of expanding into the Indian market in a phased manner.
Speaking on the occasion, Ramakanth V Akula, President - Decoratives, Nippon Paint (India) Pvt Ltd said, "Having set new benchmarks of quality in India over the past four years, our dedication to innovation of products and our excellent customer service has been consistently recognised.
Nippon Paint has always understood and worked towards the needs of its customers. Our journey towards a world full of beauty and colour continues. Nippon's entry into Mumbai, India is in line with our global plans."
The Mumbai paint industry has come a long way from the days when paints were considered a luxury item. Today the awareness levels of the importance of paints to decorate and protect the most expensive posession of a family is very high in the city, a development which has made it one of the biggest premium paint market.

The company commissioned its first plant for decorative paints at Sriperumbudur near Chennai in February 2009. The plant can produce 20,000 kilo litre paint a year - a capacity which is scalable to 40,000 kilo litre.
