Arup Roy Choudhury appointed NTPC CMD

NTPC Ltd has appointed Arup Roy Choudhury as its new Chairman and Managing Director from today. A Civil Engineer from BITS with a Post Graduation in Management from IIT, Choudhury started his career in 1979 and worked in prominent Public and Private Sector companies such as RITES, IRCON and DLF etc.
“He brings with him vast experience from both private and public sectors and has been rated as an outstanding performer with many Firsts to his credit. He is a strong believer of new paradigm shift in Project Implementation by Proactive Approach,” a company release said.
Choudhury was earlier CMD, National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC), the largest construction Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSU) of India. He is also elected Chairman of Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE), an apex professional organisation representing the Central Public Sector Enterprises of India with membership of 198 Enterprises.
He has been conferred with a number of honours for his contribution in the professional arena. His expertise in engineering discipline, particularly in construction industry and managerial competence, has been sought at many national and international forums, where he chaired sessions and presented papers
Widely travelled Choudhry has represented India in prestigious forums like ILO in Geneva, led CPSEs delegation to China to interact with SASAC, represented India in Indo-French working group Meeting on Urban Development.
