Scott Wilson appoints MD for ME Region

Scott Wilson has appointed Steve Metcalfe as Managing Director of the Middle East Region. In this position, Mr Metcalfe will be responsible for operations in some 14 countries across the Middle East Region.
Prior to this appointment Mr Metcalfe directed the close-out design for the US$2.5bn Khalifa Port project in Abu Dhabi. From 2006 to 2009 he was the Director responsible for Scott Wilson North East England operations based in Newcastle and prior to that he was a partner of Ferguson McIlveen LLP, a 2006 Scott Wilson acquisition.

Mr Metcalfe qualified as a Chartered Engineer in 1986 and was elected a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers in 2004. He is a Chartered Environmentalist and takes a strong interest in the sustainable delivery of construction in the built environment.
Throughout his career Mr Metcalfe has worked on almost every aspect of the built environment but his main area of expertise is in water cycle engineering and in particular water and sewage treatment.

Having experienced a significant downturn in 2009, the market in the Middle East is now starting to reassert itself once again as one of the real 'can do' economies. I am looking forward to guiding our business to new challenges and providing our clients with innovative and ambitious solutions to meet their needs," Mr Metcalfe said.
As someone who is passionate about Middle East and in particular Iraq, Mr Metcalfe is looking forward to spearheading Scott Wilson's operations into Basra, Baghdad and Erbil where there is a great deal of infrastructure work to be done and where he believes Scott Wilson can make a real difference in people's lives.
