Cessed buildings to get 2.5 FSI

, July 16th, 2010

The amendment in Government rules to allow cessed buildings in category C to be redeveloped with an FSi of 2.5 is a welcome move. Thus far, cessed buildings classified under category C could only be redeveloped along with category A buildings which proved to be the deterrent for redevelopment.
In cities like Mumbai where the land bank is limited, we need to explore the redevelopment route to create sufficient housing for the masses. Moreover, even in the case of category C cessed buildings there are several structures which are not in a livable condition. Now, residents of all cessed buildings will be able to opt for redevelopment and get their dream homes.
