Mumbai based Uniflex Cables Ltd has introduced fire survival wires, optical fiber and speaker cables that minimise smoke emissions or gas and survive the toughest fire condition. The company said the products, which have been tested and certified by an independent laboratory ERDA in Vadodara, can withstand flame temperature of 950 degree Celsius up to three hours without electrical breakdown at rated voltage in the event of fire.

The main application of these wire & cables is in the fire alarm system, emergency lighting, emergency generator, fire pump and fire fighting equipment, elevator and some safety-critical wire circuits. It is mandatory that such wires continue to operate for a specified period, in the event of a fire, to facilitate safety and rescue operations.
Uniflex said its wires & cables can be used in varied domestic, commercial and industrial applications such as fire alarm systems, key government establishment, power plants, emergency lighting, shopping arcades, multiplexes, hotel, petrochemical complexes, refineries, airports, telephone exchanges, hospitals and high rise residential buildings.
