Daikin opens its first manufacturing facility

Daikin Airconditioning has announced the opening of its first manufacturing facility in India. Located at Neemrana, Rajasthan, the plant is spread over 160,000 sq metres and entailed an initial investment of Rs2,100 million. The facility has capacity to manufacture 20,000 VRV units and 1,800 Chillers and will produce only HFC refrigerant (Ozone friendly) based products at first stage.

Hiroo Yoshioka, Senior Executive Officer, Daikin Industries Ltd, Japan, said: “Daikin is the global leader in Air-conditioning technology and is committed to offer superior quality air-conditioning solutions. The setting up of India facility encapsulates this vision of Daikin for its Indian consumers. India is Daikin’s one of the fastest growing markets globally and this investment is in line with Daikin’s objective to gain stronger position in the India.”

The new facility also incorporates a training centre with a capacity of imparting 12,000 Man Days of training. It is designed to train Daikin India’s sales and service staff and its dealer partners from across the country.

In the 10 years of its existence in India, Daikin has invested around Rs100 million in imparting series of quality trainings to its work force and dealer teams.

Sanjay Goyal, Country Head- Sales & Marketing, Daikin Airconditioning India, said “By setting up a facility in India, we aim at reducing the supply lead-time and become more competitive in meeting market needs in terms of product availability and specifications. This will strengthen our competitiveness and leadership in the Indian AC market.”

The company said it has witnessed the CAGR of about 35% in the last three years and is further poised to cross sales of Rs15,000 million in FY 2013 from Rs6,500 million in FY 2010.

Foreseeing a positive demand growth of its products in Tier II & Tier III cities, it said, expansion plans have been put into place through the sales and service network to cater this demand.

Daikin Airconditioning has also announced the appointment of Kanwal Jeet Jawa as its Deputy Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer. Mr Jawa has more than 29 years of experience in this industry working with key brands like Carrier, Voltas and Uniflair. With Daikin, he will be responsible for the overall business operations in India.
