The Road Transport and Highway Ministry said it has awarded 36 projects for a total length of 3166 km till February this year under the National Highway Authority of India. Seventeen projects for a total length of 1521 km were awarded till December last year. In addition, the government said, bids for 38 more projects covering a length of 3802 km have been invited.
The government said that the predominant mode of awards was EPC in the NHDP Phase I and II. However, at present, the award of projects is predominantly under the BOT (Toll) and BOT (Annuity) mode. It said the global downturn and certain procedural issues have affected the participation of private bidders.
