The Google search engine and Wikipedia have opened a new horizon for people hungry for knowledge. Thanks to IT, there are lots of opportunities to interact with the peers in the cyberspace. Social networking sites - like LinkedIn - provide an opportunity to connect with the peers through online communities which provide platform for discussing various issues. There are also a lot of opportunities to share the knowledge available on internet. ‘Wiki’ is a tool which provides the common man as well as the expert opportunity to share their knowledge with others. Everyone can easily share/ comment on issues through their online weblogs.

The latest industry news, company policies, corporate announcements and other important things posted on an employee portal accessible from remote project site can go a long way in bonding the employee with the company.
The way ahead It is important to have effective system in place to identify, create, distribute and enable adoption of knowledge in an effective manner. IT helps in digitizing the knowledge embodied in individuals and embedded in organization’s processes. Digitization can help in using the experienced resources judiciously thus increasing overall productivity and efficiency.
