India generates 6.2 MT hazardous waste every year

About 6.2 MT hazardous waste is generated every year by 36,165 hazardous waste generating industries in the country. Of the total hazardous waste generated, landfillable waste is 2.7 MT and incinerable is 0.41 MT. The amount of recyclable Hazardous Waste is 3.08 MT.
The Ministry of Environment and Forests has notified the Hazardous Wastes (Management, Handling and Transboundary Movement) Rules, 2008, for proper management and handling of hazardous wastes. The recyclable wastes are supposed to be processed and reused by the industries having a valid authorisation issued by the respective State Pollution Control Board.

COMMENT

It must be more then 6.2 million tons and there is NO record on recycal Waste residues must also be treated as HZ waste

It must be more then 6.2 million tons and there is NO record on recycal Waste residues must also be treated as HZ waste but it is dumped into the sea or is burnt in the open.
