Sejal Architectural Glass Ltd (SAGL) will be soon commencing its operations in its newly set up float glass manufacturing plant at Bharuch, Gujarat. The cost of the plant is Rs588 crore and is spread across 150 acres of land. The plant is 98% complete and is expected to be fully operational in next four to five weeks time.
The plant has capacity to produce 550 tons per day of float glass. The total float glass manufactured in India is approximately one million tons per annum and the demand for float glass is growing at a CAGR of 15% - 20%, during the last 2 to 3 years, barring the economic slowdown in 2008-09. This demand is expected to continue for the next five years.
Commenting on the development, Amrut Gada, chairman & MD, Sejal Architectural Glass Ltd said: “This is the first float glass plant of its kind in India which is a 100% domestically promoted project. With the start of this venture, we expect the division to contribute 90% to the company’s topline within a year of operation.”
