Dada & Partners has won the School of Planning & Architecture’s (SPA’s) International Urban Design Competition to design its new 20-acre campus property in New Delhi.
The Gurgaon-based firm beat more than 130 entries with its proposal for an ecologically-sensitive site that allowed connection with the city and created a holistic learning environment.
“A conventional campus paradigm creates insular learning environments,” said the company. “The SPA campus needs to be integrated with the city. The city shall be its laboratory for learning and innovation.”

The site is situated along a ridge preserve that runs through the city. The blueprint for a truly inclusive, collaborative and urban campus, the firm said, is to create opportunities for the city to interact with campus life. The master plan proposes an assembly of porous buildings along the lower campus. This invites the larger community while the north-south campus spine defines the beginning of the academic core.
