Bangalore based Mantri Developers, in association with Apollo Hospitals, will introduce the concept of telemedicine for the first time in India in a residential complex.
The first telemedicine setup is expected to be introduced in the Mantri Greens project by the first week of December 2008.
This is also the first time in South Asia where home owners will get the facility of telemedicine in their complex.
Telemedicine, which generally refers to the use of communications and IT for the delivery of clinical care, will be a pioneering step in the field of facility management as well.

Telemedicine is used for consulting, and sometimes remote medical procedures or examinations. With the significant growth in demand on wireless network design and management, urban communities will benefit in terms of telehealth.
Mantri Developers will gradually introduce telemedicine in its other projects. The concept will provide cost effective customised and need based telehealth solutions for residents. An ultra modern telemedicine unit will be set up in the projects enabling doctors to virtually examine patients from a distance, through Video Conferencing.
Clinical information, including blood pressure, heart sounds, etc can be transmitted from the telemedicine centre.
Remote ECG monitoring can also be made available. Post diagnosis, medicines will be prescribed and supplied and ongoing treatments maintained through teleconsultations.
