CR Swaminathan, chairman, CII-southern region has announced that CII would organise Suminfra 2009 and Excon 2009 in the region. Suminfra 2009 - Summit on Infrastructure Development, would happen from August 6-7, 2009 in Chennai and Excon 2009 - Asia’s third largest construction equipment and construction technology fair will take place from November 25-29, 2009 at Bangalore. Suminfra 2009 will be a forum for key decision makers in town planning, the private sector in construction and infrastructure industry, entrepreneurs and financing institution. The objective of Excon 2009 would be to showcase the latest developments and advancements in construction equipment and technologies in India.
Besides organising these two events, CII-southern region would also urge the Government to focus on attracting big ticket infrastructure projects to stimulate demand. Initiatives such as Chennai Aero Park, near Chennai and setting up of Special Multi Sector Economic Zones in Andhra Pradesh and Puducherry would provide a fillip in attracting fresh investments into the respective states.
