For the first time, the Gujarat government is taking up an infrastructure project worth Rs2,000 crore to improve facilities in 180 Gujarat Industrial Development Corp (GIDC) estates.
The project will improve road, water, power and drainage facilities in these estates.
The purpose behind the project is to create environment for attracting more industrial units in the state.
The estates would be divided into three categories A, B and C under which scale of facilities would be different. Under A category, all the modern facilities will be available to the industries being set up.
To ensure productive use of land, the government has asked those holding plots of lands for the investment purpose to use them within two months otherwise it would acquire them for the industrial purpose.
