To give a boost to the air cargo market in India, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) is preparing a development plan for the next 10 years and begun implementing projects to create modern cargo hubs across the country.
The contract to prepare an Air Cargo Policy - Vision 2020 has been awarded to PriceWaterhouse Cooper.
Among the initiatives already taken to develop air cargo infrastructure is the full-fledged modern cargo handling system at the Kolkata airport, equipped with an automated storage retrieval system (ASRS).

The Nagpur Airport, situated in the middle of the country, is also being developed as a national and global cargo and passenger hub.
