Soma to undertake freight corridor work

Soma Enterprise Ltd has been awarded the contract to design and construct 54 major bridges for Western Freight Corridor by Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Ltd. (DFCCIL).
The Rs 605.15 crore project covers 200 kms between Vaitarna and Utran on the Vasai- Bharuch section in the states of Maharashtra and Gujarat. Work on the project is scheduled to be completed within 30 months.
DFCCIL is a special purpose vehicle created by Ministry of Railways to undertake planning & development, mobilisation of financial resources and construction, maintenance and operation of the Freight Corridors.
This is the first project awarded to Soma by DFCCIL, which is the biggest development programme being undertaken by the Indian railways since independence. The project has opened up substantial future opportunities for Soma in the railway sector.
