How do you gauge the market for construction equipment in India? How has the ongoing liquidity crunch impacted this sector?
In our opinion the housing market has been affected severely and seen a price correction of almost 20%. With liquidity of people still being tied up, the already constructed areas are not being bought.
So, new buys are down. But a converse is that with prices being low, the government is seriously looking at infrastructure development. If they can take a swift decision then the demand for construction equipment in India will be stronger.

Going forward what will be the growth drivers for this sector? What is going to be your strategy to leverage this potential?
The launch of vehicles in the heavy vehicle segment planned by existing as well as new players is one of the key growth drivers in the OE segment.
Our strategy is to work closely with OEMs and jointly work towards developing clutches for new vehicles.
We also intend to leverage our strengths with OEMs to exploit the existing opportunities in the aftermarket segment. Though the global markets are subdued currently, new product development will help us exploit overseas markets to register growth.
From manufacturing clutch plates to developing sports infrastructure, what has been the rationale behind the launch of SE TransStadia Pvt. Ltd?
