Eveready Industries India Ltd. is launching a series of products in the space of alternate lighting solutions aimed at providing enlightenment to energy deficient households in India, as according to the company, only 44 per cent of rural households have access to electricity.
This economically viable product is slated to replace the usual kerosene lantern used by the rural dwellers.
The company has also launched a range of 2500 and 2700 series rechargeable batteries based on nickel metal hydride technology, also targeted towards high-end power hungry devices.

Besides, the company’s alternate lighting solution called ‘Homelite’s is based on light emitting diode technology and provides 3-4 times more light than a normal kerosene lantern. With lower running expenses, the product can provide light for 80 hours. Over the last year, the company has seen a significant growth in its different product categories.
In flashlights market, where it holds close to 80 per cent market share, the company has been working to upgrade rural consumers from conventional incandescent flashlights, which are energy guzzlers to LED technology based flashlights which are highly energy efficient and cost less.
